Welcome to our Ultimate Guide to SEO For Your Crypto Brand in 2022.
This is the second part, in a 3 part series, that will be released over the next week.
In part 1, we looked at what is SEO for crypto and blockchain brands, and how it differs from SEO for other industries.
Today, in part 2, we are going to look at what keyword research is and how you can conduct effective keyword research for your blockchain or crypto brand.
Next week, in part 3 we will dive into Onsite and Offsite SEO for Crypto and Blockchain Brands.
Let’s get started.
Great SEO needs keyword research –– no matter the industry.
Keyword research gives you insights into what your target audience is searching for, what knowledge they are looking for, and how they come to find your blockchain brand and product.
For example, let’s say that you have an NFT marketplace.
You may then want to target keywords such as “Trade NFTs”, “NFT marketplace”, and “NFT exchange”. The goal of targeting these keywords is that your domain will rank in the SERPs (Search Engine Results Page) for these terms.
If you go to Google and search “NFT marketplace”, you will likely find that the top organic results delivered to you are OpenSea, Binance or Rarible. But how did they get there?
By optimising their content for this keyword. Now let’s look at how you can do the same thing.
Keywords are the backbone of SEO.
Keywords are the words and phrases that you, and everyone else, type into search engines.
You use a phrase to help you find the information that you are searching for.
This is the reason that keywords are so essential in SEO. You need to find the right keywords that users are searching for when they are looking for content or products like your own.
When it comes to keywords, there are two key metrics you need to know:
Different types of keywords have different volumes and difficulties. For example, a new site may have more trouble targeting a primary or focus keyword – “NFT Marketplace”.
But you may have more success targeting a longer keyword such as “What is an NFT Marketplace?”
However, as you can see from these two keywords, you might end up with different types of users searching for each one.
This brings us to search intent.
Search intent is the reason that a user is searching for a specific keyword.
The goal of any search engine is to keep its users happy. Therefore it wants to deliver them with results that they want to see.
Search engines, therefore, present results to users that are relevant to the search keywords they use.
For example, when you search for the term “buy NFT”, you will be delivered links to sites where you can trade, create, and buy NFTs.
In contrast, if you were to search “what is an NFT?”, you will get results with things such as explainer articles, blog posts, or recent news.
The search intent behind the two keywords is different.
The first has a greater intent to purchase, whereas the second one is searching for knowledge. Understanding search intent helps you create your website content accordingly.
If your website does not satisfy this intent, it is unlikely to rank.
This then brings us to finding the right keywords. How do you find the keywords that you want your crypto brand to rank for?
Keyword research tools help you discover the search volume, difficulty and intent of keywords. Keyword tools dramatically reduce the time that you need to conduct keyword research and are extremely useful for any blockchain brand looking to improve their domain's SEO.
Let's take a look at some of the popular keyword research tools out there.
With Moz, you can conduct keyword analysis and learn the search volume and difficulty for each keyword. You can save and generate keyword lists, find question keywords, and more.
SEMRush is one of the most advanced SEO tools which delivers intricate SERP details such as reviews, image packs, featured snippets, etc.
These things may not be of high importance to you in the beginning but as you become more advanced with your SEO these insights become invaluable.
In the next part of this series, we will look at how you use on page and off page SEO to help your blockchain domain rank for the keywords you have now discovered.
